One of the few really good, cheap options near Columbia University is Bombay Frankie (a.k.a. Roti Roll), which brings Indian street food to Morningside Heights. This small counter offers a dozen or so varieties of “frankie”: your choice of filling wrapped in a hot, grilled roti (Indian flat bread). The Chana Masala Frankie—spiced chickpeas, tomato, onion and cilantro chutney—is particularly good. Our recommendation: Ask for it spicy, and add an egg for $1 more.
